Schmidt Field 2024 Tree Inventory and Planting Plan – Update

The Schmidt Field Tree Plan has been finalized and will be considered for adoption at the June 2nd EEAC meeting.  Schmidt Field, Boat Ramp and Playground is one of the largest green spaces in the East End.  It serves multiple purposes including boat access to the Ohio River, softball and soccer fields, and a playground and picnic area.  Several mature trees throughout the park provide welcome shade in the summer and natural beauty year round.

In 2024, the EEAC received a grant from the City of Cincinnati’s Office of Environment and Sustainability to create a tree plan for Schmidt Field by surveying the existing trees and developing a tree planting plan for the future.  The draft plan was presented to the EEAC at the end of 2024.  Several suggestions were made and incorporated into the final draft that is up for consideration now.  The final plan has been posted on the EEAC website here (insert link).  The EEAC will be raising funds to help purchase and plant new trees designated by the plan.  If you have questions about the plan, or would like to donate to purchase trees or volunteer to plant them, please reach out to EEAC President Steve Johns at cincieastendprez@gmail.com or 513-205-1486.
