February Minutes approved
Guest, Council member Mark Jeffreys
● Public safety priorities include full classes of police trainees and fire trainees (currently full)
● Public works priorities include cleaning up streets of trash, snow removal, lighting streets, etc.
● Oasis Trail, completing the crown, 34 miles of trail connecting downtown to Lunken provides
opportunity for economic development
● Residents asked where the money from sale of the railroad going
o CM Jeffreys shared whey can only be used for current infrastructure - this is restricted by
the State of Ohio
● Residents expressed concerns on revitalizing Schmidt Field: benches, swing set, bathrooms, etc.
It was decided that a committee will give a full report of the needs of Schmidt Park to Council for
review.
● Lighting in Walworth Tunnel – The tunnel is owned by SORTA should the city take over payments
of the lights it will be a long process to take over ownership from SORTA.
● Riverside Drive Railroad Bridge Rehabilitation is out for bid.
● Riverside Drive landslide correction at Rookwood Overpass is also being bid as a design/build
project.
● Riverside Drive retaining wall at Friendship Park. This project is scheduled to be out for bid
November of 2026 with construction in the first half of 2027.
Police Report, Officer Wendy Martin
● Captain Richardson spoke to shooting at Riverfront Live
o Nine were shot, all injured, no fatalities
o Confident this will be solved, but unable to answer questions directly to arrest
o Riverfront Live has a historically low incident rate
o Investigating how the guns were brought into the venue
● 1 Burglary
● 2 Theft from Auto
● 1 Personal Theft
School Report, Karen Hordinski, School Resource Coordinator
● Prom is coming up! Two proms.
● We are thankful for The Carnegie Center who donated the use of their building for our
Riverview prom, April 17. Our Spencer prom will be on May 5 at the Woodward Theatre.
● If anyone has formal dresses to share, we’d love to gather some dresses, shoes, purses,
and jewelry for students in the resource room. I’ve also connected students to Kenzie’s closet,
which is a great organization for helping girls with prom dresses. I’m also looking for donors
to help young men with renting a tux
● We are excited that Norwood Lowes is partnering with our school to paint bathrooms. We
hope to have the bathrooms near the gym repainted this spring. If you love to paint, we would
love to have more bathrooms repainted as they are in terrible condition. We have 29
individual bathrooms in the building.
● We were thrilled to have East End resident Joe Zimmerman come to our garden planning
meeting last Wednesday afternoon! If anyone else is interested, please reach out to Joe or
me. This is the garden on Old Delta on the west side of the school building.
● Requests for more tutors in classrooms start picking up in the early spring. Right now I am
looking for a writing tutor for a sophomore. She’s a wonderful student and she requested
help.
● A few things we could use this month in the resource room include toothbrushes, black hair
products (such as edge control gels), and adult hoodies and sweats (all sizes).

LeBlond Report, Taylor Singleton
● New program survey for LeBlond Rec at the front desk
● Youth to work applications are live (closes in 2 weeks from March 2nd), interviews will be the
week of March 23rd

NSP Report, Regina Moss
● 2025 NSP budget was approved
● Regina attended training last week
● Each neighborhood will have $9,666 for 2026
o Funds will be used for communications, beautification, and community engagement
Garden Committee
● 2026 will be the best year of the gardens with grant funds going to beautification of the garden
beds
Treasurer Report, Kathy Schwab
● No February expenses
Community Committee, Jane Sites
● Jane partnering with eastern communities like Mt. Washington
● Requesting the developer to present to the affected communities their plans for Lunken, Jane had
volunteered LeBlond
Riverside Drive Traffic Committee
● Present current recommendations, would like community to review plans and present
adjustments and possibly vote for approval to submit to the city in April meeting

President Report
● Steve is serving on the Oasis Trail Advisory Board. The consultant working with Great Parks to
design the trail will come to our April meeting. Information available at

● TIF - still working with the City on the home repair program. Need to develop project list for other
funds
Affordable Housing Committee
● Working with Habitat for Humanity to explore construction of 3-4 new homes on city owned lots -
2560 and 2566 Riverside Drive
● Joe Zimmerman suggested brainstorming ideas to house homeless
